Do I need a 5 year inspection on a single family home?
Whether a formal five year certification applies to your home depends on the occupancy and what your local fire authority asks for. What is not in doubt is that gauges, valves and heads age, and a periodic professional look catches the cheap problems before they become expensive ones.
Can a painted head just be cleaned?
No. Paint on a head changes how it releases and it gets replaced, not scrubbed. It is a quick job and an inexpensive part. A whole house of painted heads from a careless repaint is still a modest repair.
